Whitney Deason

Whitney Deason brings years of experience at the closing table and beyond to The Mayo Firm. Having learned the industry in metro Atlanta, she is able to move deals quickly from contract to close – without sacrificing service or expertise. Whitney brings a vast network of resources to The Mayo Firm’s real estate department, and a personality that makes transactional law fun for all involved.

Whitney grew up in small town Florida…Dade City to be exact – the highest elevation in Florida where you’re more likely to find cow pastures and orange groves than palm trees. She followed her parents footsteps to Florida State University where she majored in English Literature, minored in Religion, and focused on Seminole football. Working for the Seminole Boosters throughout her undergraduate career, Whitney quickly learned the value of networking. When law school presented itself as an option, Whitney moved to Stetson University College of Law in her father’s hometown of St. Petersburg. After a year in classes, Whitney’s love of people more than books prompted her to apply for the statewide internship with the Supreme Court of Florida. Of all applicants in the State, Whitney was selected first to serve in the Chief Justice’s chambers for a semester – back in Tallahassee. Her time at the Court was so rewarding that she wanted to repeat it but to continue receiving course credit, it would have to be in a different state. The Supreme Court of Georgia was glad to have the help and invited her to move to Atlanta. Whitney stayed with the Supreme Court of Georgia through law school graduation in 2010 (attending Georgia State University law school as a visiting student to complete those last required courses while remaining at the Court), fell in love with the state of Georgia, and has been here ever since.

After taking a paid position in the Supreme Court after graduation, Whitney moved briefly into a federal lobbying position, before landing in real estate law. Whitney worked for O’Kelley & Sorohan and then Thomas & Brown (both of metro Atlanta, both processing incredibly high numbers of closings) before meeting and marrying her husband, Jacob, and moving to Gray to start a family. Whitney continued to work from home and commute back to Atlanta to assist with closings on the busiest days.

Whitney is a busy mother of four who values family above all else. She loves singing on the Worship Team at Gray Community Church, and serving her community. Whitney’s husband, Jacob, is a third-generation boot salesman from Texas and together they own Macon Boots on Vineville Avenue and a second location at the former Central State Hospital property in Milledgeville. The Deasons are avid Macon Bacon fans and season ticket holders. When she’s not working or homeschooling her children, you can find Whitney in the gym or reading.
